Ski season in Mammoth Lakes

Winter in Mammoth

Mammoth Mountain gets some of the deepest snow in North America and one of the longest seasons in California. Here are our favorite ways to spend it.

Free shuttle nearby

Mammoth Mountain

Over 3,500 acres, 150+ trails, and an 11,053 ft summit. One of the prides of Mammoth Lakes is the free town shuttle, which runs to the lifts so you can leave the car in the garage.

~30 min drive

June Mountain

A quieter, family-friendly hill about 30 minutes north with views over June Lake. Often included on Mammoth passes.

Lakes Basin

Cross-country & snowshoe

Groomed Nordic trails around Twin Lakes in the Lakes Basin, plus miles of quiet snowshoe routes through the Inyo National Forest.

Great for families

Tubing & sledding

Woolly’s Tube Park has lifts that tow you back up, so nobody trudges uphill. Perfect for kids and non-skiers.

Book ahead

Snowmobile & dog sled tours

Guided snowmobile rides through the backcountry or a dog sled run across snowy meadows. Book ahead on holiday weekends.

Walkable

Après in town

Walk to breweries, restaurants, and shops, then walk home. The Village is a short shuttle ride away for more après.
